Scope and content

Series consists of minutes, draft reports and correspondence concerning work Dr. Holmes and others did on a Advisory Committee on Academic Planning report to the Council of Ontario Universities. Dr. Frumhartz collected these records and used them as reference materials in the course of his work for various committees.

The Advisory Committee on Academic Planning was established December 14, 1970. Its activities fell under the direction of the Ontario Council on Graduate Studies and through them the Council of Ontario Universities, then known as the Committee of Presidents of Universities of Ontario. The Advisory Committee on Academic Planning was responsible for assisting the promotion of graduate studies in Universities, advise on affective planning for the development of graduate studies, design assessments for graduate study programs and the implementation of these assessments. Dr. Holmes, a professor of chemistry, was involved in the committee as a member of a chemistry working group compiling information for a system for evaluating the chemistry graduate study programs.
