This series is comprised of records of plot care down to 1933, payment of grave and vault fees to 1936, and a burial register for 1889-1908, correspondence concerning interments, plantings and plot care is included in the letter books (which also include annual reports) and incoming correspondence files.

Cemetery receipts and expenditures are also recorded in the seven-column cash books and tricolumn journals in Boxes DEC 005 & 006.

General note

Lancelot de Carle became superintendent of the St Peter's Anglican and General Protestant Cemeteries in 1871 and was succeeded by his sons Leopold in 1877 and Charles W. in 1917, and by grandson Victor in 1928. From Victor's death in 1939 the superintendence passed to W.T. Somerville, who had worked for the de Carles from 1917 to 1938.
