Professor Muni Frumhartz was born August 23, 1923 in Toronto and died at the age of seventy one on November 23, 1994. He was a member of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University from 1956 to 1987. He came to Carleton in 1956 as a Lecturer in Sociology and retired a Full Professor in 1987. Professor Frumhartz helped to shape the character of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and Carleton University. He served on the Board of Governors (1967-1971), on Senate (1963-1965, 1967-1972, 1974-1978 and 1981-1984), on the Council and Executive of Canadian Association of University Teachers (CUAT) (1963-1964, 1974-1976 and 1980-1984), on Council of Ontario Universities (COU) as Alternate Colleague and Colleague (1967-1979), as Department Chair (1960-1964 and 1973-1976), as member of Executive and as President of Carleton University Academic Staff Association (CUASA) (1962-1965, 1963-1964 and 1978-1979), Chair of Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA) (1973-1974) and later, Executive member (1975-1976), as well as on other University committees and working groups.
