Wacousta, or, The Prophecy: A Tale of the Canadas

Steering Committee

This sub-series is comprised of minutes of the CEECT Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee originally consisted of six members: Mary Jane Edwards, Mary Durance, Jeremy Palin, Sydney Wise, Robert Laird, and Robert McDougall. In later years, the Committee was expanded to include other Carleton University faculty such as Thomas Ryan, Carl Amberg, Naomi Griffiths, Ian Cameron, and Dennis Forcese. The Committee's objective was to establish the administration and funding of the CEECT editorial project. Tasks included selection of texts and determining the editorial principles and procedures for CEECT. The Committee convened every second week 1979-1982, at which time the Committee was dissolved and replaced by the Editorial Board.

St. Ursula's Convent or the Nun of Canada

This sub-series includes permission letters and collation. The permission letter files consist of correspondence with various archives and museums for permission to use a portrait of Julia Catherine Beckwith Hart in the CEECT edition.

Research

This sub-series consists of bibliographic sources and researchers' notes, including audio records of publishers' archives.

CEECT relied on interlibrary loans to acquire rare books, and as a result utilized the interlibrary loan section of the MacOrdum Library at Carleton University.
