Army showing typical "energy". This part of a scenario in which the pro-apartheid political forces supported the IFP led by their candidate Buthelezi. In our pre-election mission to Natal we visited Buthelezi and were invited to a lunch at which the guests were leaders of the most conservative white pro-apartheid groups. We had not anticipate staying for lunch and our aircraft was ready to leave but Buthelezi seized the opportunity to show-off" off his distinguished visitors from Canada, i.e. Broadbent, Macdonald and campagnola all prominent parliamentarians and leaders in their parties. (However, at the meeting with him Buthelezi followed protocol allowing only Brownstone as head of mission to sit close to him!!!)
