The series consists of academic notes taken by S.F. Wise as a student (1946-1959). These records encompass both his undergraduate and graduate studies.
Sydney Wise attended several universities as a student; the University of Toronto (1949-1950), Queen's University (1953), and the University of Chicago (1953) and Chicago University (1954) for graduate courses.
The fonds consists of 17 series that document the academic life and interests of Sydney Wise. The series include: Academic notes (1946-1959); Queen's University (1955-1966); New Democratic Party (1961-1965); Sports history (1972-1974); Book reviews, articles, etc. (1957-1974); Carleton courses (1967-1978); RCAF Chapter briefings (1963-1987); RCAF history (1914-1991); Historical associations, Societies and Boards (1965-1995); Committees (1971-1995); Carleton Committees and speaking engagements (1976-1995); Recommendations, appraisals and criticisms (1966-1995); Graduate studies and advising (1967-1990); The Long vacation (1914-1918); Video collection (1992-2002); Miscellaneous (1986-2007); and Personal files (1953-1995). The series files have been arranged according to the series numbers (where available) designated by Professor Wise's office secretary in the Directorate of History Department of National Defence. When these numbers are not present the files have been arranged chronologically.
