National conferences

This series consists of Canadian University Press annual national conference documentation, including reports, minutes, delegate binders, newsletters and working papers from 1953-2010 as well as audio cassettes from CUP annual national conferences from 1984-1985 to 2002-2003. Material from CUP's summer school program is also included, as well as copies of the "CUP primer". Other ancillary conference documentation includes general administrative files and correspondence, staff questionnaires, post-conference surveys, financial reports, and national journalism summit material.

Quebec Region of Canadian University Press

This series consists of textual material detailing the activities of the Quebec region of Canadian University Press (CUPBEC/CUPBEQ). It includes financial and administrative records, conference reports and proceedings, regional newsletters, position papers, correspondence and news exchange items.

Ontario Region of Canadian University Press

This series consists of textual material detailing the activities of the Ontario region of Canadian University Press (ORCUP). It includes financial and administrative documents; conference proceedings; fieldworkers', regional staff and directors' reports; regional newsletters from the 1970s and 1980s; position papers; and recruitment and election documentation and correspondence.


This series consists of textual material created, received and accumulated by the Canadian University Press in regards to Youthstream, the arm of Cameron Consultants of London Ltd., which provided national advertising to newspapers in The Campus network. Records include contracts, correspondence, financial reports and supporting documentation, as well as policy documents, minutes and agendas from Campus Plus board meetings held at annual Canadian University Press conferences. Minutes from the Youthstream members' board are also included.

CUP history

This series consists of textual records detailing the history of CUP, including: special project and resource files; subject-related essays and theses; alumni lists, interviews and correspondence; member and mainstream newspaper clippings; CUP file indexes; grant proposals and applications; newsletters and correspondence; speeches and addresses; promotional events, services, activities and conference documentation; and historical staff lists.

John H. McDonald Journalism Foundation

This series consists of textual and ephemeral material produced, received and accumulated by the John H. McDonald (JHM) Foundation of Canadian University Press. The Foundation was formed in 1987 to foster and support student journalists in Canada through annual awards and other development opportunities. Documentation includes legal and constitutional records, correspondence regarding sponsorship, Board of Directors' and annual general meeting minutes, and nomination forms for awards granted by the Foundation. There are also fifteen engraved wooden plaques awarded by the Foundation in the following categories: Sports writing, Opinion, Arts, Photography, Features writing, Design, Labour reporting, Graphics, News writing, Humour writing, Diversity reporting, Solutions oriented writing, Acualité, Société, and Arts et culture.

National executive

This series consists of textual records of the National executive of Canadian University Press, and includes: minutes, motions, and agendas of Board of Directors meetings; reports and correspondence to the Board from regional bureau chiefs and field reporters; national executive correspondence, both internal and external (some specific to various CUP presidents); mailing list files; trial membership correspondence; and grant, business and partnering activities.


This series is comprised of correspondence between Canadian University Press and Campus Plus and their member newspapers across the country, and consists chiefly of financial and administrative details regarding membership. Individual papers' campus-specific issues and activities are also included.


This series consists of graphic, textual and ephemeral material associated with the conferences, events and awards of Canadian University Press and the John H. McDonald Journalism Foundation.


This series consists of six VHS tapes chronicling the activities of the Women's caucus, Campus plus, and the National magazine.
