Main Street Program

Series consists of documents created and accumulated by the offices of the Heritage Canada Foundation. Records consist of correspondence, contracts, publicity, legislation, meeting minutes and drafts for publication.

HCF founded the Main Street Program (1981-1994) based on earlier American models to counteract development in urban downtowns. John J. Stewart led the pilot project in Perth, ON from 1978-1981. HCF executive director Jacques Dalibard (1978-1995) oversaw the program's implementation. The Main Street Program extended to ca. 200 communities. After 1994 the program ended after federal funding finished, but the Quebec chapter continued. At the time of closure Main Street Program had four regional offices: West, Ontario, Quebec, and East.

Publications on policy

Series consists of notes, newspapers clippings, draft reports and publications on political policy created and compiled by Joe Clark while serving as Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.

Personal material

Series consists of personal ephemera accumulated by Joe Clark during his political career with the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. Series includes newspaper clippings, pamphlets and photographs of various events. The series also includes a certificate awarded to Clark in 2004 by the Vietnamese Canadian Federations.

Campaign and promotional material

Series consists of promotional buttons, stickers and banners, video cassette recordings of election advertisements and transcripts of campaign policy statements, briefs and speeches accumulated by Joe Clark throughout his political career within the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. Also included are two sets of personal photographs of campaign events in 2000.
