History
John David Keys was born on September 30, 1922, the son of David Arnold and May Freeze Keys. After serving in the Navy, he attended McGill University, graduating in 1951 with a Ph.D. in Physics. After teaching for some years at Royal Roads, he came to Ottawa in 1958 and joined the public service. He became a VIce-President at the National Research Council and an Assistant Deputy Minister at Energy, Mines and Resources. After leaving the government in 1980, he joined Philip A. Lapp Ltd. in Toronto, attaining his Professional Engineer designation in 1982. He and his wife returned to Ottawa in 1988. John David Keys died on September 24, 2004.
