Scope and content
Series consists of records created while teaching various history courses at Queen's University. Most of these courses were taught at the undergraduate level. The series also includes a compilation of records from various organizations and committees that Mr. Wise belonged to and/or participated in during his time at Queen's.
Sydney Wise began teaching at Queen's University as a Lecturer in the History Department (1955), became an Assistant Professor of History (1957-1961), Associate Professor of History (1961-1964), and became a full Professor in 1964. He remained teaching at Queen's University until 1966. Some of the courses he taught at Queen's University include: Introduction to Canadian History (1955-1966), Tudor Stuart History (1955-1959), British Empire Commonwealth (1957-1959), United States 1776-1950 (1957-1960), Canadian External Relations (1959-1961), Canadian Political Parties (1959-1960), Canadian Economic and Social History (1961-1966), and a Graduate course entitled, Canadian Intellectual History (1963-1966).
Mr. Wise was very involved in several committees and organizations. Most of his participation centred around university committees but include groups of academic interest such as the United Nations Association.
